CHICAGO — A woman driving the wrong way on the Chicago Skyway struck a semi-truck early Thursday, causing a fuel spill and traffic delays.

The woman was driving a black Infiniti northbound in the southbound lanes near East 76th Street when she hit the semi about 1:30 a.m., said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

The crash caused a diesel fuel spill, which the Fire Department had cleared by 2:50 a.m.

As of 5 a.m., only one southbound lane was open, Greer said. The semi was still blocking most lanes.

Both the Infiniti driver and the man driving the semi were taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Greer said.

Charges against the Infiniti driver were pending.
