CHICAGO — A man tried to lure two kids into his car in Woodlawn Monday morning by claiming he was their uncle, police said.

The children were walking to school about 8:15 a.m. when a man driving a burgundy car pulled up alongside them in the 6100 block of South Rhodes Avenue, police said.

A concerned citizen asked the kids if they knew the man, according to cops. The children said they did not, but the driver insisted he was their uncle. He then drove off, heading southbound on Rhodes.

Witnesses said the man was black with a caramel complexion, cornrows and "goatee connected to a bushy beard." He's about 35 years old.

Officers said the car was burgundy, but they were unsure of the make and model.

Police ask anyone with information to call 312-747-8380.
