CHICAGO — Charges have been filed in connection with the murder of a 25-year-old man in West Garfield Park Thursday afternoon.
Alexander Scott, 29, of the 2200 block of North Campbell Avenue, was arrested about 7 p.m. Thursday evening at his home, police said. He is scheduled to appear in court on first-degree murder charges Saturday.
About 4:20 p.m. Thursday, police found Eric Woods shot in his chest while responding to a call of shots fired in the 900 block of South Springfield Street.
Woods, who lived on the same block, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 5:02 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
