CHICAGO — Two people, including a teenage boy, are in critical condition after South Side shootings early Thursday.

The most recent incident occurred about 3:25 a.m. in Woodlawn, said Sgt. Al Stinites, a police spokesman.

A 23-year-old man was sitting in the driver's seat of a parked SUV in the 6700 block of South Eberhart Avenue when a man walked up and opened fire.

The victim was struck in his chest and upper right arm and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

About an hour earlier in Auburn Gresham, a 17-year-old boy was shot while walking along the sidewalk in the 8300 block of South Peoria Street, Stinites said.

The teen told police he heard someone walk up and fire a shot about 2:35 a.m. The teen was struck in his upper left torso and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

Police weren't sure what motivated the shooting.

No one was in custody for either incident.
