CHICAGO — Cops have issued a community alert after a man tried to lure a girl into his car in Logan Square on Feb. 19.

Police said a girl was walking eastbound in the 3100 block of West Belden Avenue when a man parked in a gray four-door sedan said, "Come inside. I'll take you home."

According to police, who would not provide the girl's age, the girl opened the front passenger door of the car. At that point, cops said, the girl's mother yelled at her, and the girl closed the door. The man drove off.

Police described the suspect as a white man with straight red hair and a fair complexion. No further description was provided, and witnesses did not observe the make and model of the car.

Cops are urging Logan Square residents to walk in pairs and avoid strange vehicles.
