HEART OF CHICAGO — A broken water main flooded part of Western Avenue and forced traffic to be rerouted Monday morning, officials said.
Shortly before 9 a.m., police turned the portion of Western Avenue between 16th and 18th streets into a one-way street as crews worked on the broken main.
Officers allowed northbound drivers to pass under the bridge while southbound traffic was rerouted down 16th street. Minutes later, police diverted northbound traffic and allowed southbound traffic to pass through.
