RAVENSWOOD — Remember when Chicago was wild?
Turtle races, the Rat Lady and the lakefront's best make-out spot were all highlights of Ben Hollis' run as host of WTTW's "Wild Chicago." He'll be sharing stories and clips from the show, 2 p.m., Saturday, at Bethany Retirement Community, 4950 N. Ashland Ave.
"Wild Chicago," co-created by Hollis and John Davies, debuted in 1989. The concept of Chicago as urban jungle — embodied by Hollis' trademark safari suit and pith helmet — led the host on a series of adventures to uncover the city's oddest places and strangest characters.
In 2013, Hollis released a DVD compilation of the show's first two seasons — "The Golden Age of 'Wild Chicago,' Volume 1" — which premiered in November at the Patio Theater.
Saturday's event is free and open to all, no RSVP required.
