KENWOOD — A masked man attempted to abduct and rape a girl from Kenwood Academy last week, according to police.

A large man of unknown ethnicity wearing a black mask pulled a Kenwood student into a white van through the side door around 5 p.m. near the school, 5015 S. Blackstone Ave., said police, who could not say which day the incident occurred.

The victim, a junior at Kenwood Academy, told police on Wednesday that the man took her pants off and said he intended to rape her. The man was unarmed and the victim was able to escape unharmed, according to police.

The principal of Kenwood Academy was unavailable to comment.

Police said they are looking for an older white cargo van with lettering on the side and the seats removed from the back.
