CHICAGO — Attend a book reading, learn how to make romantic food and cocktails, see a folk show or check out some stand-up comedy in Lincoln Park and Old Town Thursday night.

Gumbo Fiction Salon at Galway Arms, 2442 N. Clark St., 7 p.m.

The group, which hosts monthly book readings, will feature several authors reciting from "All-American Horror of the 21st Century: The First Decade 2000-2010." The reading is $2 for students and $4 for the rest.

Love Potions By Prasino at Whole Foods, 1550 N. Kingsbury St., 7-8 p.m.

A chef and a mixologist from Prasino shows how to make food and cocktails with an "aphrodisiac twist." Tickets are $15 and can be bought online.

Tristen and Chicago Farmer with Ryan Joseph Anderson at Tonic Room, 2447 N. Halsted Ave., 8 p.m.

Folk pop musician Tristen performs along with fellow folk artist Chicago Farmer and singer-songwriter Joseph Anderson. Tickets are $15, and show is just for those 21 and older.

Ben Roy at Zanies, 1548 N. Wells St., 8:30 p.m.

Stand-up comedian Ben Roy performs at Zanies this week. The performance is $25, plus a minimum of two food or drink orders.
