LAKEVIEW — Local brewery DryHop will get some much needed extra seating when it adds a sidewalk cafe to its small dining room this spring.

DryHop Brewers, 3155 N. Broadway, seats just 70 people, making it far smaller than other popular breweries and pubs in the city, which often seat 200-300 people.

This spring, DryHop will be able to serve more people with a small 16-seat boost on the sidewalk outside the restaurant.

Owner Greg Shuff sought approval from South East Lake View Neighbors earlier this week for the addition. The group voted in favor of the patio, and Ald. Tom Tunney (44th) will consider the vote when deciding whether to support the patio.

It will have a wood fencing similar to the one at Wilde Bar and Restaurant, 3130 N. Broadway, Shuff said.

DryHop's sales are currently about even between food and alcohol, Shuff said — a balance he expects to continue on the sidewalk cafe as well.
