CHICAGO — A 31-year-old driver was shot in his foot while stopped at a red light in Pilsen Thursday night.

The man told police he was sitting in his car about 9:40 p.m. in the 2300 block of South Blue Island Avenue when he "heard shots and felt pain," police said.

The man, whom police described as "a self-admitted gang member," said he saw a silver minivan driving toward him before he was shot, according to police.

The shots could have come from the van, and the incident could have been gang-related, police said.

The victim drove himself to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was treated for wounds suffered when the bullet went all the way through his left foot.

He was listed in good condition early Friday, and no one was in custody for the shooting.
