CHICAGO — Showtime's "Shameless," which stars Emmy Rossum and William H. Macy, is back in town filming starting next week, and becoming an extra might be your best chance get in on the action.

The show needs some background actors for a scene at the University of Illinois at Chicago on Feb. 11 and for an "L" train scene on Feb. 15., casting director Jonathan Kinnas said.

Kinnas said they may need 100 to 200 extras for the week.

For the UIC set up, the show will likely want some college-age extras, Kinnas said. They're also looking for people with cars.

All hopefuls need to register on Atmosphere Casting's website and be Illinois residents (a requirement that usually has to do with the production's eligibility to receive the state's film tax credit).

Kinnas also said those interested should clear their schedules for the filming days, as it could take awhile.

The show, which tells the often raunchy, messy stories of the South Side-based Gallagher family, typically films exterior scenes a few times a year in Chicago.
