CHICAGO — A man attempting to burglarize a house in the Heart of Chicago was fatally shot Friday morning, police said.
A homeowner shot the man just after 9 a.m. while he was attempting to rob his home in the 2000 block of West 21st Street, police said. The man died at the scene and the incident is still under investigation, said Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman.
Mario Viramontes, 31, of the 2100 block of West Cermak Road, was pronounced dead at 9:22 a.m. Friday morning, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
