Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Thursday Shooting

CHICAGO — A Woodlawn man was arrested and charged with attempted murder Thursday.

Officers apprehended Jovan Williams around 9:15 a.m. Thursday after a "brief foot pursuit" when officers noticed Williams matched the description from a shooting earlier Thursday morning.

The shooting in the 2400 block of West 63rd Street left a 35-year-old man in critical condition at Stroger Hospital after being shot in the head, police said.

Police also recovered a handgun during the investigation.

Williams, 22, of the 6600 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue, was charged with felony aggravated battery and felony attempted murder, police said.
