COOK COUNTY COURTHOUSE — A man and his ex-girlfriend were charged with battery this week after they teamed up for a Christmas Day attack in South Chicago, prosecutors said.

Vincent Ramirez, 39, was charged with domestic battery, aggravated battery and theft, and was held on $80,000 bail Wednesday afternoon. His ex-girlfriend, Kathryn Hinojosa, was held on $60,000 bail Tuesday for her role in the attack, according to prosecutors.

According to police reports, Ramirez was arrested Jan. 19 after he was identified in a photo array.

Ramirez and Hinojosa allegedly punched and kicked a man in the 9600 block of South Avenue L causing him to fall and hit his head, knocking him unconscious. The victim possibly knew Ramirez, but prosecutors did not detail their relationship.

The man awoke to find himself bleeding from the head and face, prosecutors said.  He had facial abrasions, cuts and broken bones requiring surgery, prosecutors said.

After the attack, Ramirez allegedly stole the man's Samsung tablet.
