Railroad Police Officer Beaten Near Metra Station

CHICAGO — A uniformed Norfolk Southern Police Officer is in good condition after an altercation near the Wrightwood Metra station.

Officers responded to a call in the 3200 block of West Columbus Avenue in Ashburn around 10:25 p.m. Sunday and saw a man beating the officer, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.

The man was immediately taken into police custody and charges against him are pending, Alfaro said.

The officer was taken to an area hospital in good condition.
