CHICAGO — A middle-aged man tried to sexually assault a 14-year-old girl in West Ridge Monday night, police said.

The girl was walking in the 2500 block of West Morse Avenue about 8:45 p.m. when a man in a dark-colored, four-door car asked if she wanted a ride, police said. The girl declined and kept walking.

A few moments later, she felt a hard object against her neck, police said. The man told the girl to follow him into a gangway, where he pulled her to the ground and tried to undo her belt.

A motion sensor light went on and scared the man away, police said.

Cops describe the attacker as a 45- to 55-year-old white man with an accent. He's about six-feet tall and weighs 240 to 260 pounds. He had white hair and white beard.

Police are searching for the man and ask anyone with information to call detectives at 312-744-8263. Mention case number HX113556.
