Man Dead in Englewood Shooting

CHICAGO — A man died after being shot in Englewood Thursday morning.

The 27-year-old jumped on a car while being chased by a gunman before being shot in the chest and leg in the 7000 block of South Halsted Street about 10:45 a.m., said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was identified as Lester Jones, of the 6200 block of South Talman Avenue in Chicago Lawn, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

He was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 11:59 a.m., the medical examiner's office said.

No one was in custody as of Thursday evening.
