CHICAGO — A 19-year-old man was shot in his head Thursday afternoon during a cellphone robbery in Chicago Lawn.

The teen was walking with a woman in the 6200 block of South Campbell Avenue when a dark-colored van pulled up about 4:15 p.m., said Officer Michael Sullivan, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

Two men with guns hopped out of the van and demanded the victims' cellphones. The two complied, Sullivan said, but the robbers opened fire, striking the man in his head.

He is listed in critical condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center.

No one was in custody.

Later Thursday, a 29-year-old man was shot in his leg in Roseland, Sullivan said. The victim was in the 200 block of West 95th Street when a gunman approached around 8 p.m.

Police said the victim has known gang ties and is not cooperating with detectives. He's in "stable condition" at Roseland Community Hospital, but no further information is available.
