LINCOLN PARK — An international DePaul University student was killed over the school's winter break in an automobile accident.

DePaul notified staff and faculty of the death of first-year student Huali Yin in an email Tuesday night.

Yin was killed Dec. 10 in a car accident while home in China for winter break, according to a DePaul spokeswoman.

Private services were held in Yin's hometown in Chicago a few days after the accident, according to the university.

Yin, who went by Lance, was majoring in business.

A residential education and university ministry led a gathering Tuesday evening for Yin in his residence hall along with staff from DePaul's international office and a close friend of the Yin family.

"Our deepest condolences to Lance's family at this time of terrible loss," the university wrote in the emailed announcement.
