MARQUETTE PARK — Authorities filed charges late Tuesday against a Marquette Park man they say stabbed an 18-year-old woman to death during a fight at a house party this week.

Adan Montano is charged with first-degree murder for stabbing Stephanie Serrano at the party in the 2900 block of West 63rd Street, police said.

Montano, 37, lives on that block, but the party was not at his home, police said.

At about 10:15 p.m. Monday, Montano got into a dispute with some of the other partygoers and began chasing people around with a knife, police said.

Serrano, of the 8300 block of South Komensky Avenue, was stabbed multiple times.

The teenager was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 11:12 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. Police have said Montano fled the scene but left the knife behind.

A short time later, Montano walked into the Chicago Lawn District police station with stab wounds, authorities said.

Police took Montano into custody and took him to Holy Cross Hospital to treat a gash on his head.
