AUSTIN — A man was hospitalized after being shot in the city's Austin neighborhood Wednesday night, police said.

About 8:50 p.m., the 37-year-old man was standing in an alley in the 1700 block of North Long Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

The man was shot in the thigh and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition stabilized, Greer said.

No one was in custody in connection with the shooting as of early Thursday morning.
