PILSEN — For all the pyromaniacs in the house, Redmoon Theater promises a “huge moment of fire” at midnight on New Year’s Eve.

“It’s Redmoon’s bombastic version of the countdown to midnight. I can promise you much percussion and flame at midnight,” said Alex Balestrieri, Redmoon’s director of events.

For “Revolution,” Redmoon’s first New Year’s Eve party, Balestrieri took advantage of the Pilsen theater’s 42-foot ceilings.

“Everything is up, up, up. Having the whole event in the air is a real pleasure when you have the space,” he said.

The “up” includes aerial acrobats serving chocolate from 40 feet in the air and a champagne chandelier that drops down to pour guests a glass of bubbly. To draw guests’ focus back to the ground, the theater’s floor will be covered with candlelit altars and pews and pieces of pipe organ — reclaimed from a recently shuttered South Side church.

The party will also have three DJs and the Oh My’s, a Chicago-based soul band. Guests will gorge on sweet stuff from Logan Square’s Katherine Ann Confections, Glazed and Infused Doughnuts, and First Slice Pie, with booze provided by Vin Chicago and Lagunitas Brewing Company.

General admission tickets are $100 and include five hours of open bar and sweets service from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. The ticket also includes a free shuttle service between Redmoon and 77 W. Wacker Drive.

A small amount of $150 VIP tickets also remain. Those tickets allow guests access to a private lounge area with a private bar and bartender and additional hors d’oeurves.

“It’ll be a crazy interactive environment for people to get lost in and welcome in the new year,” Balestrieri said.
