CHICAGO — A woman was shot in a Humboldt Park home invasion and a 15-year-old boy was shot in Bronzeville about the same time Wednesday afternoon, police said.

A 15-year-old was shot in his right leg while walking on the sidewalk in the 3800 block of South Calumet Avenue about 2:48 p.m., said Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman.

The boy was walking when a gunman approached him and fired two shots. Struck once, the boy was sent to Comer Children's Hospital where he is in stable condition.

In Humboldt Park, a 20-year-old woman was shot in her abdomen during a home invasion in the 1000 block of North Springfield Avenue, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman.

The shooting also occurred at 2:48 p.m.

A man forced his way into the home, and the two "exchanged words" before the man shot her, Sedevic said. The man then took off from the scene.

The woman was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, Sedevic said.
