LINCOLN SQUARE — Individually, beer and cupcakes are pretty darned good. Put them together and they make the world a better place.

On Wednesday, The Grafton Pub & Grill, 4530 N. Lincoln Ave., is serving up homemade cupcakes for one night only, along with Great Lakes Christmas Ale and Wild Onion Phat Chance Blonde until the kegs run dry, as a fundraiser for needy kids.

All cupcake profits, $1 from every Christmas Ale and $2 from every Phat Chance will be donated to buy Christmas toys for kids at Lydia Home Association.

Founded in 1913 and headquartered at 4300 W. Irving Park Road since 1920, Lydia's has expanded on its original mission of serving orphans and now takes in children who've been victims of neglect and physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse, offering a "place of comfort and rest to children who are broken from years of abuse," according to the association's website.

The Grafton's fundraiser kicks off at 4 p.m. Stick around for trivia at 9 p.m.
