NORTH CENTER — Chestnuts, they're not just for roasting on an open fire.

As part of a holiday-inspired prix fixe menu available throughout December, Sola, 3868 N. Lincoln Ave., has found a number of creative uses for the nut.

Chestnuts play a supporting role in chef/owner Carol Wallack's starter, a parsnip soup with confit chestnuts, and entree, a wagyu hanger steak with chestnut risotto.

For the dessert course, the nut takes center stage in a chestnut fig pound cake served with vanilla ice cream, vanilla port syrup and candied ginger.

The prix fix menu costs $30; wine pairings can be added for another $15.

Sola is open for dinner nightly at 5:30 p.m.
