CHICAGO — On Monday, the neighborhood features a visit from Santa during breakfast, storytellers talking about their fascinating families and comedians look to get their big breaks.

Rising Star Showcase at Zanies, 1548 N. Wells St., 8:30 p.m.

For $10 (plus two minimum orders of food or drinks), see 10 to 12 comedians who are hoping to get a job at Zanies or are working on their material.

Root Down: Stories of Kith and Kin at Webster's Wine Bar, 1480 W. Webster Ave., 7:30 p.m.

Catch the second night of tales from the organization 2nd Story. The theme is families, and there will be four stories told including one from a woman trying to convince her father that working in a strip club is OK. Tickets cost $20. Doors open at 7 p.m.
