Two Separate Fires on South Side Extinguished

CHICAGO — Firefighters were called to fight a two-alarm blaze at a Chatham residential building Wednesday afternoon.

The fire occurred about 3:30 p.m. in the 8000 block of South Ellis Avenue, according to the fire department. The fire was extinguished about an hour later, according to the fire department. One person was transported to South Shore Hospital in good condition, officials said.

Around the same time, a fire broke out in a bedroom of a high rise in the Lake Meadow Apartments, in the 400 block of East 32nd Street in Bronzeville. The fire, which took place on the 11th floor, was quickly extinguished, and there were no injuries, according to the fire department.
