CHICAGO — Police have launched a homicide investigation after discovering a 17-year-old boy's body in West Englewood Monday afternoon.

The teen was found in a stairwell in the 5900 block of South Winchester Avenue about 3:30 p.m., said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman. The boy had been shot in his chest.

He was later identified by family as Aaron Hubbard, a 17-year-old who lived in the 5900 block of South Marshfield Avenue and was kidnapped last weekend.

The teen was pronounced dead on the scene at 3:45 p.m. Monday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

No one was in custody Tuesday.
