Man Wounded in Drive-By Shooting in South Chicago

CHICAGO — An 18-year-old man was hospitalized after he was shot in a drive-by in South Chicago, police said.

The incident occurred at 9:30 p.m. Thursday when the man was walking on the sidewalk in the 8300 block of South Marquette Avenue.

Shots rang from a light-colored minivan that then drove off, said Officer Michael Sullivan, a police spokesman.

The man was shot in his lower back and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition.

No one is in custody.
