CHICAGO — Police are urging Chicago Lawn residents to be careful after a group of women - and possibly teen girls as young as 13 - committed a string of robberies in the area.

In each instance, police said, the women approach victims on the street or on a CTA bus and robbed them.

The attacks occurred:

• in the 6200 block of South Western Avenue on Oct. 31 about 2:10 p.m.

• in the 6400 block of South California Avenue about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday

• and in the 6300 block of South Whipple Street about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Police described one suspect as a red-headed white woman between 13 and 23 years old. She's between 5 feet and 5-foot-5 and weighs about 110-120 pounds.

As many as three other suspects were described as black women, 13 to 25 years old, with black hair. The women ranged from 5 feet to 5-foot-9-inches tall and weigh roughly 150-180 pounds.

Police urge anyone with information to call detectives at 312-747-8380.
