State Police confirmed that one person died in the crash. The Chicago Fire Department took three adults to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, and a child was rushed to Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition, fire officials said.

About 5:18 a.m., another crash occurred in the inbound local lanes near 43rd Street. This site was cleared by 7 a.m., according to State Police. Fire officials said one woman was taken to Mercy Hospital in good condition with minor injuries.
