CHICAGO — A man was shot while attempting to rob a store in West Rogers Park Monday, police said.

Around 5:39 p.m., the man attempted to rob the store in the 2900 block of West Devon Avenue and was shot by an employee of the store. The robber then fled the store, police said.

Dozens gathered at the scene in front of The i-Shakk Monday night, walking around police tape that blocked off the sidewalk. Nearly all of those present expressed concern that the store's owner and employee, a father and son, were harmed in the attack.

"It's the neighborhood store — my kids go there," said a passerby named Judy, who declined to give her last name.

It's where you go "when you need a quick fix," she added, describing the neighborhood computer repair and accessories store, where the father and son worked.

Police, citing preliminary data, described the robber as a young black male wearing a white hoodie.
