CHICAGO — Even after being shot twice by a masked man who entered her Austin home Wednesday night, a woman went chasing after him and another intruder, police said.

About 6:17 p.m., a 47-year-old woman was in her home in the 5000 block of West Van Buren Street when a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a mask entered the home, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

The woman and the masked man got into a struggle, and the man pulled a gun and shot the woman twice, hitting her in her abdomen and leg.

The woman chased after the gunman as he fled and saw a second man flee from the home with the gunman.

The woman was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious but stable condition, police said.

As of Thursday morning, no one was in custody for the home invasion.
