LINCOLN PARK — Fairways, the upcoming restaurant and bar on Armitage that will feature golf simulators, is scheduled to open in about a month.

The two-story building at 1141 W. Armitage Ave., which was previously P.J. Clarke's, will include four golf simulators on the second floor that can be rented out by the hour.

The owners of the upscale concept had planned on opening Fairways in July, but the process of renovating the business took longer than expected.

"We are getting super close," said co-owner Mark Clement Monday afternoon. "Golf simulators are being installed starting tomorrow, and they come in at the very end."

Clement and co-owner Michael McCutcheon have teamed up with Chicago Sport and Social to allow the intramural sports organization to take over the simulators for two nights a week.

Chicago Sport and Social will host two sessions of 9-hole coed golf leagues during those nights, Clement said.

During the five other nights of the week, the hourly rate to rent out one of the simulators will be around $50.

"Two guys can knock out 18 [holes] in two hours and get back home with their wives," Clement said.

The first floor of the building will feature about 130 seats and a 22-person bar, while the upstairs will include a bar and the simulators for 50 people.

The 11-by-16-foot golf simulators will be available by reservation only.

Fairways will stick closely to the golf theme and carry 18 beers on tap with a craft beer and craft cocktail focus.

With inspections set for the first week in November and hopes that everything goes according to plan with staff training, Clement hopes to open in late November.
