CHICAGO — A man was found dead, and two people were wounded in overnight shootings on the South and West sides.

About 5:25 a.m. Monday, police found a dead man in his 50s in the 1200 block of West 72nd Place in West Englewood. Officer Michael Sullivan, a Chicago Police Department spokesman, said the man had been shot multiple times.

No further information was available early Monday.

On Sunday night, an 18-year-old woman was shot in her left hand and left leg in Austin, Sullivan said. The shooting occurred in the 5800 block of West Superior Street about 9:15 p.m.

In Hyde Park, a 55-year-old man was shot in his head in the 5400 block of South Cornell Avenue about 8:55 p.m. Sunday, Sullivan said. The man was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, but was later downgraded to "serious."

• From Friday night to Saturday afternoon, gunfire killed one man and injured six people.

• A man was hospitalized after being shot near the Wilson Red Line stop Friday evening.
