LITTLE VILLAGE — The fetuses found in two jars in Little Village last week have been identified as human.

Cops uncovered the jars last Wednesday in an alley in the 2500 block of South Harding Avenue. A worker at a nearby business had spotted the jars and called police.

Investigators at the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office initially weren't sure whether the remains were human.

This week, the office confirmed the jars contained two non-viable human fetuses — meaning, the fetuses were too small and underdeveloped to live outside a womb.

The mystery still remains, however, as cops on Monday said they aren't sure where the jars came from or to whom they belonged.

Police have launched a noncriminal investigation into the matter.
