CHICAGO — A South Chicago man who was shot alongside another man earlier this month died Saturday, officials said.

Robert Murphy III, 30, of the 7900 block of South Escanaba Avenue, was shot the morning of Oct. 14 while driving in the 800 block of East 82nd Street. Police say he was shot in the head, and drove the car several blocks before crashing into three parked cars and coming to a stop near Maryland Avenue.

Murphy was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead Saturday morning at 8:30.

Also killed in the shooting was Anthony Williamson, 49, Murphy's passenger, who was pronounced dead on the scene.

On Wednesday, police charged Terry Burnett, 35, of Harvey, in Williamson's murder. He was also charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery for shooting Murphy. He was ordered held without bond after appearing in court Thursday.
