CHICAGO — A south suburban man has been charged with shooting two men, one fatally, in a car earlier this month in Chatham.

Terry Burnett, 35, of the 14600 block of Jefferson Street in Harvey is accused of murdering 49-year-old Anthony Williamson and is due in court Thursday.

Williamson and a 30-year-old man were in a black Chevrolet Impala just before 9 a.m. Oct. 14, according to police.

The two got in an argument with Burnett, who was not in the vehicle. Burnett then pulled out a handgun, police said.

The younger man, who was shot in the head, drove the car west in the 800 block of East 82nd Street when shots were fired near Drexel Boulevard.

After the two men were shot, the driver continued until he hit three parked cars and came to a stop near Maryland Avenue.

The driver was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition while Williamson was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot in the back, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Burnett has also been charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery.
