Two Charged in Murder of Chicago Lawn Man

CHICAGO — Two people have been charged in the September slaying of a Chicago Lawn man, police said Saturday.

Anthony Wells, 18, of the 7100 block of South Jeffery Boulevard, was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Jaleel Pearson, 18. A juvenile, whose name police withheld, was also charged.

The Sun-Times reported the other defendent is Omar Gunn, 17.

Police said Wells chased Pearson into a store in the 2200 block of East 71st Street on Sept. 20. Wells shot Pearson in the arm and chest, mortally wounding him.

Wells was ordered held on $450,000 bond, while Gunn was denied bond, the Sun-Times reported.
