UPTOWN — Police are searching for a man who posed as a cop and sexually abused a woman in Uptown earlier this month.

The woman was walking in the 4700 block of North Clark Street about 1 a.m. on Oct. 4 when a man drove up in a large, dark-colored SUV and identified himself as police, according to an alert from detectives.

Police said the man told the victim that he noticed someone following her, and invited her inside his vehicle for refuge.

After the woman got into the SUV, the man forced her out of it to "search" her, but instead sexually abused her, according to police.

Police described the attacker as a "good looking, clean cut and well spoken" man between ages 30 and 40, standing about 6-foot-tall and weighing 200 pounds. He was sporting a short afro at the time of the assault, police said.

Anybody with information about the suspect or the assault can call detectives at 312-744-8261. Anonymous tips can be submitted to tipsoft.com.
