RAVENSWOOD MANOR — The victim of a Saturday night shooting in the 4700 block of North Sacramento Boulevard is recuperating from a wound to his leg but is not cooperating with the investigation into his attackers, according to police.

Sgt. Kristin Munin, who heads up the 17th District's Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy office, provided additional information about the incident to members of the Ravenswood Manor Improvement Association, which was shared with residents via email.

According to Munin, the 34-year-old male victim is a member of the Latin Kings but belongs to a faction more commonly found in the 24th District.

Police had come into contact with the victim, who has 25 prior arrests, in the hours before the shooting. He was asked to leave the neighborhood, which he did, but he later returned.

Officers believe members of La Familia Stones are responsible for the shooting, according to Munin.

Ald. Deb Mell (33rd) reported that her office is working to expedite tree trimming to improve street lighting in the area where the shooting occurred.

Residents are being encouraged to call 911, not 311, to report suspicious individuals in the neighborhood.
