PILSEN — A "bomb" will be dropped on Pilsen Wednesday, just not the “mother of all bombs,” according to the city’s film office.
On Monday, the Chicago Tribune quoted a “Transformers: Age of Extinction” source as saying a huge explosion would happen at Wednesday’s shoot along the silos at 29th Street and Damen Avenue.
But the explosion’s hype is more bust than bomb, according to Chicago film office Director Rich Moskal.
“I don’t think it’s anything more, it may be even less than what they’ve done previously,” Moskal said. “Pyrotechnics is part of what their production is all about.”
"Transformers" blew up a bridge near the same silos last weekend, and, on Sunday, crews dressed up South Wacker Drive with Chinese street signs and storefront decorations for a shoot.
Moskal said crews would be shooting at the silos throughout the day Wednesday. The movie, starring Mark Wahlberg and Kelsey Grammer, is set to finish filming in Chicago at the end of the weekend.
