LAKEVIEW — Plans for a ten-story glass tower on the northwest corner of Clark Street and Belmont Avenue were posted on an alderman's website.

The site's developers, BlitzLake Capital Partners, have big plans for the site including 98 residential units, 56,000 square feet of retail, and about 120 parking spaces, according to plans posted on the website of Ald. Tom Tunney (44th).

In July, Mitch Goltz of Chody Real Estate, who brokered the sale of the site, denied reports that BlitzLake would seek to build a 12-story tower on the site.

In recent months, tall tower projects have been met with strong opposition in Lakeview. Last month, Tunney rejected a $30 million plan to build an eight-story, LGBT-focused boutique hotel at 3343 N. Halsted St.

As in that case, any zoning changes with this property must be approved by Tunney. The property resides in the Hawthorne Neighbors district and borders both Triangle Neighbors and Central Lake View Neighbors.
