LINCOLN SQUARE — Here's one way to get guys involved in the wedding planning process: Throw a bridal expo masquerading as a craft-beer tasting.

Bridetoberfest, set for 6-10 p.m., Oct. 3 at DANK Haus, 4740 N. Western Ave., was created as a way to encourage engaged couples to support local breweries at their big event.

A $15 ticket buys folks a commemorative tasting glass and the chance to fill it up with samples of five beers from local breweries including Half Acre, Revolution, Begyle and Metropolitan.

Additional beer and food — brats, pulled pork, pretzel bites, sausages — will be available for purchase (cash only), provided by FIG Catering, Pure Kitchen, Katherine Anne Confections, Luscious Layers and more.

Bridetoberfest is sponsored by Barley's Angels Chicago, an organization aimed at drawing more women to the craft beer movement, and the Green Wedding Alliance, which is a coalition of florists, caterers, photographers and stationers, among others, committed to creating environmentally and socially responsible events.

A planning lounge set up at the fest will offer a casual space for couples to meet with members of the Green Wedding Alliance and brainstorm ways to make their event more eco-friendly.

Tickets to Bridetoberfest can be purchased online.
