CHICAGO — State troopers ticketed 135 drivers caught texting or doing other things that took their eyes off the road on the Kennedy Expressway Monday morning, police said.

Illinois State Police issued the $120 tickets as a part of sting to curb distracted driving, said spokeswoman Monique Bond.

Troopers monitored southbound traffic near Montrose Avenue and Addison Street from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

State police conducted a similar operation on Aug. 31, when 100 drivers were ticketed for being distracted within the course of an hour that morning.
