CHICAGO — A man sporting a gun tattoo on his forehead was charged in the August Uptown shooting that wounded a man and left a 14-year-old boy critically injured, police said.
Kelsky Patterson, 20, of the 4600 block of South Drexel Boulevard in Kenwood, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm.
He has a tattoo of an AK-47 on his forehead.
Patterson is accused of firing the shots that left 14-year-old Isaiah Johnson, known to friends as Lil Polo, fighting for his life after he was hit twice in his head. An update for his condition was not available. A bullet also hit a 22-year-old man in his wrist.
Patterson was on a bike at Wilson Avenue and Broadway when he began spraying gunfire about 6 p.m. on Aug. 31, authorities said.
Isaiah was in critical condition after the shooting, which police said was gang-related.
The teen was not in a gang, community organizer Anthony Doss said earlier this month, but his friends were, making Isaiah "guilty by association" to the gunman.
Before police announced charges early Thursday, Ald. James Cappleman (46th) told the community in a newsletter that police had arrested someone.
Police said earlier this month that they believe the Aug. 31 shooting is connected to the Aug. 19 gunfire that killed 21-year-old Darius Oliver outside Uptown Baptist Church in the 4500 block of Sheridan Road.
Patterson has not been charged in the Aug. 19 shooting.
