PILSEN — A Day of the Dead spectacle kicks off this year’s lineup for spectacle king Redmoon Theater’s 2013/2014 season at its warehouse performance venue.
All performances for "Redmoon INDOORS" — which begins Nov. 1 and runs through April — will be at 2120 S. Jefferson St., Redmoon’s new Pilsen home since March.
The first show will be "Boneshaker," a Halloween party that falls on Nov. 1, Day of the Dead in Mexican culture.
Guests at "Boneshaker" will get to be actors in a live-feed video, race small cars around a track, and watch a performance by the punk marching band Mucca Pazza, said Frank Maugeri, an artistic director at Redmoon.
“You will not be bored for a second. I absolutely guarantee the best Halloween party in the city of Chicago that weekend,” said Maugeri, who’s been with Redmoon 18 years.
In addition to Boneshaker," the theater will host "Skelebration" — a family-friendly version of "Boneshaker" — a winter pageant, its New Year’s Eve party "Revolution," "Spectacle Lunatique," and a "Spring Spectacle" series.
This lineup marks the first actual performances for the theater, which has a history of outdoor spectacle in addition to smaller, intimate puppet shows.
And now, with almost 20,000 square feet of space with which to work, Maugeri said he’s excited to show the public what Redmoon can do indoors.
“You have to get down to see Redmoon’s new home. Because you’re not going to believe it,” he said. “People coming to these shows are going to see really big shows and have really interactive experiences.”
Redmoon’s "Boneshaker" show is at 9 p.m. Nov. 1. Tickets for the 21-and-over show are $75 and include food and drinks. Visit Redmoon’s website for ticket information.
