ANDERSONVILLE — Andersonville, your Divvy has arrived.
The citywide bike-sharing program set up its first Andersonville station earlier this week with a 15-dock bike rack at the southwest corner of North Clark and West Winnemac avenues.
Elliot Greenberger, a spokesman for Divvy, said residents can expect two more stations in weeks to come: one at Clark and Leland (originally slated for Clark and Wilson); and one at Ravenswood and Lawrence that has been stalled by Lawrence Avenue construction.
"We’re super excited," said Ellen Shepard, executive director of the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce. "We've been advocating for [the bikes] for a long time."
Those interested can sign up for a $7 one-day pass or $75 annual membership. Each pass provides unlimited 30-minute rides. Riders are free to pick up and drop off bikes at any station, and trips longer than 30 minutes incur extra fees.
Despite excitement, there is one glitch at the new Winnemac station: Its map isn't right.
The Divvy map claims riders can drop off their bikes at three local stations: the two that aren't open yet, and a third, at Clark and Berwyn, that won't launch until 2014.
Greenberger said the map was cut and printed amid ongoing schedule changes and will be updated shortly.
In the meantime, riders can return their bikes to Clark and Winnemac, or swing over to Broadway, which has stations at Berwyn and Argyle.
