CHICAGO — A man was shot during a robbery attempt in Greater Grand Crossing Tuesday morning, police said.

The 23-year-old victim was shot in the back by an assailant who was trying to rob him in the 6800 block of South Prairie Avenue about 9:50 a.m., said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Estrada said. It was unclear if the robber got away with any money or property, the officer said.

No one is in custody for the shooting.
